“I came to Everton as a complete beginner, knowing absolutely nothing about salsa and bachata. I wanted to fast-track my progress, so I chose private lessons to get the most focused, one-on-one attention possible.

“I've been taking bachata classes with teacher Everton and I'm absolutely loving it! The classes are well structured, with clear explanations, attention to detail, and a light, welcoming atmosphere. Everton has an amazing technical eye, but also knows how to make dancing fun and accessible — even for beginners. I already feel more confident and connected to the rhythm! Highly recommended. 💃🏽”

Who this is for

You don't need to be a natural. You just need to show up.

Most of our students said the same thing before their first class: "I've always wanted to learn properly." If that sounds like you, this class was made for you.

🎉

You dance at parties — but not really

You move a little when the music hits, but you know you're just surviving the dancefloor. You want to actually know what you're doing.

👀

You watch and want to join

You've seen salsa dancers at a bar or festival and felt that pull. You held back because you didn't know where to start. This is that start.

🧩

You want the foundation right

Not just a few moves — you want to understand the rhythm, the connection, the technique. So when you go social dancing, you feel it.

The timing feels right now

Something in your life shifted — more time, more energy, or just a decision to stop saying "one day." Now is the right moment. We see it every week.

🤝

You want to meet people through movement

Group classes aren't just about learning steps. They're one of the best ways to connect with new people in Sydney — genuinely and naturally.

🚀

You want to progress fast

No years of slow classes before you can dance. Our structure is designed to build your foundations properly so you level up quickly — not just learn patterns.

How it works

From first step to feeling the music

01

Book your $25 trial

One class. No commitment. You come in, you feel the vibe, you see if it's right for you. That's it. No pressure.

02

Get your foundations

We start with rhythm, timing, and basic footwork — not random moves. Real foundations you'll use forever, not just in class.

03

Build connection with partners

Salsa is a conversation between two people. You'll learn how to lead and follow naturally — without overthinking every step.

04

Dance with confidence

After a few weeks, you go to a social, a party, or a festival — and you actually know what to do. That's the goal. That's the reward.

What you'll learn

Real skills. Not just choreography you'll forget.

  • Salsa basic step (on1 timing)
  • Body weight and balance

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need any experience to join?+
No. The beginner class starts from zero. Whether you've danced a little at parties or never moved to music in your life, everyone starts from the same foundations. If you can walk, you can learn salsa.
Do I need to bring a partner?+
No. Most of our students come solo. In group classes we rotate partners regularly — it's actually better for your learning because you get used to dancing with different people. Bring a friend if you want, but don't let it stop you from coming alone.
Where are the classes?+
All classes are at Alma Studios, 103 Foveaux Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010. A five-minute walk from Central Station, easy to reach from anywhere in the inner city. Street parking available on surrounding streets.
How long does it take to actually learn salsa?+
You'll feel a real difference after 4–6 classes. Not performance-ready — but confident enough to dance at a social without freezing. Progress depends mostly on consistency. Show up every week and you'll surprise yourself within a month.
What should I wear?+
Comfortable clothing you can move in — jeans, leggings, casual wear. Shoes with a smooth sole are ideal (avoid thick rubber soles or thick treads that grip too much). Bring water. That's it.
What's the difference between salsa and bachata?+
Salsa is fast, energetic, built on an 8-count rhythm — more footwork, more turns. Bachata is slower, more sensual, 4-count — more body connection and hip movement. Both are Latin. Many students start with salsa then add bachata after they have their footing. We teach both styles at Dance More.
Can I do private lessons instead of group?+
Yes. Private lessons are available for people who want faster results, a personalised plan, or who prefer one-on-one learning before joining a group. See our private lessons page for details and pricing.
